Sia Kate Isobelle Furler is an Australian songwriter, singer, music video director, and record producer. She is most famous for her hit song ‘Chandelier.’ She has won several accolades and awards, including an MTV Video Music Award and ARIA awards.
Sia was born on 18th December 1975, in Adelaide, South Australia. Her father is a musician,while her mother is an arts professor. She is also related to singer-actor Kevin Colson; he is her uncle. Career
Sia began her career in the mid-nineties as a singer for the acid-jazz local Adelaide band called Crisp. The band disbanded in 1997 and she soon released her debut studio album ‘OnlySee.’ She later relocated to London, UK and became the lead vocalist for the English band ‘Zero 7.’
At the turn of the millennium, Sia signed a contract with Dance Pool, a sub-label of Sony Music. In 2001, she subsequently released her 2nd studio album titled ‘Healing Is Difficult.’ She was not pleased with the promotions of her new record and moved to Go! Beat. In 2004, she released ‘Colour the Small One’ her 3rd studio album. The album was not very popular and Sia moved to NYC a year later. She then started touring across the country.
In 2008, Sia released her 4th studio album, ‘Some People Have Real Problems’ and her 5th studio album ‘We Are Born,’ two years later. She then went on a performance hiatus and turned her attention to songwriting for other musicians. She had popular collaborations with Rihanna for Diamonds, David Guetta for Titanium, and Flo Rida for Wild Ones.
Sia had her sixth studio release in 2014. The album was titled 1000 Forms of Fear and it debuted in the U.S. Billboard 200 at number 1. It also featured the breakthrough top-10 single ‘Chandelier’ as well as a trilogy of successful music videos that starred dancer Maddie Ziegler.
Sia launched her 7th studio album in 2016 titled ‘This Is Acting.’ The song ‘Cheap Thrills’ from the album was her first number 1 single in the Hot 100 chart. She also went on her ‘Nostalgic for the Present Tour’ in 2016.

Sia’s song ‘Chandelier’ was written by Jesse Shatkin and Sia. It was produced by Greg Kurstin and Shatkin and released as the lead single of the album ‘1000 Forms of Fear’ on March 17, 2014. Chandelier is an electro-pop song and it features reggae, R&B and electronica influences. With regards to the lyrics, it has a gloomy theme that details the validation and demoralization of alcoholism via the usual through processes of a trendy “It Party Girl.” Sia has stated that she had written the song for Beyonce or Rihanna, but later decided to sing the track herself.
Chandelier reached the top 5 list in the record charts of more than 19 countries, including Italy, France, Australia, Poland, New Zealand, and Norway. It reached number 8 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and thus became Sia’s first song as a lead singer to appear on the chart. More than two million copies of Chandelier have been sold in the US since its release. At the 57th Grammy Awards, it got four nominations.

In 2016, Sia announced that she was splitting from her husband Erik Anders after being married to him for 2 years. She had even come out as a ‘queer’ in 2008, and stated that she was a dating a singer from the group ‘Attitude’. in 2013, Sia had tweeted that she didn’t identify herself as a lesbian, because she had predominantly dated men.
