Her film debut was in 1999 along with her mother in a comedy-drama named Crazy in Alabama (1999), and in 2006 she was voted Miss Golden Globe. Dakota Johnson was born to actors Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson. Peter Griffith, an advertising executive, and a child actor is her maternal grandfather while her maternal grandmother is actress Tippi Hedren. Actor Antonio Banderas is her former stepfather. She has six half-siblings – four on her father’s side and two on her mother’s side.
Johnson went to Aspen Community School in Colorado. Later she went to Santa Catalina School in Monterey, California from where she transferred to New Roads School in Santa Monica, California. After graduating from high school, Johnson came back to pursue her acting career. She acted in a box office hit film The Social Network, directed by David Fincher in 2010. She also acted in Beastly, Chloe, and Theo by Ezna Sands and For Ellen by So Yong Kim. In 2012, she was cast in Goats by Christopher Neil, The Five-Year Engagement by Nicholas Stoller, and 21 Jump Street. She played the female lead in Chris Nelson’s Date and Switch.
In 2012, Johnson played the role of Kate in the comedy series Ben and Kate on Fox, which was her TV debut. The show was canceled in 2013 after airing the first season. Johnson returned to her films quickly and acted in Need for Speed (2014). She was also cast in Cymbeline, a modern version of William Shakespeare’s work.
