Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter is a famous American singer, dancer, songwriter and actress who rose to international prominence in 1997 with the release of her R&B girl group ‘Destiny’s Child’ of which she was the lead singer. The group became the best-selling girl group world-wide and gave birth to Beyoncé’s career as a solo-artist. Beyoncé has since produced 6 successful albums namely ‘Dangerously in Love’, ‘B’Day’, ‘I Am… Sasha Fierce’, ‘4’, ‘Beyoncé’ and ‘Lemonade’ all of which earned the top spot on Billboard 200 Charts.

In a career spanning 2 decades, Beyoncé’s has sold over 100 million records in her career as a solo artist while also selling 60 million records of ‘Destiny’s Child’. She is one of the highest selling music artists and has been felicitated with 22 Grammy Awards and 24 MTV Video Music Awards and holds the distinction of being the most nominated female singer in Grammy and MTV VMA’s History. She has also featured in Time Magazine’s list of “100 Most Influential People in the World while Forbes named her the most powerful woman in the entertainment business in 2015 and 2017. Furthermore, Beyoncé was named the Person of the Year in 2016.

Beyonce – Ethnicity

Beyoncé was born on 4 September 1981 in Houston, Texas as the elder daughter of hairdresser and salon owner Celestine “Tina” Beyincé and Xerox sales manager Mathew Knowles. Knowles later started serving as Beyoncé’s manager. She has African American ethnicity on her father’s side of the family and Louisiana Creole ancestry on her mothers. Beyoncé’s siblings include a biological younger sister, singer Solange, and a step-sister, actress Bianca Lawson from her mother’s second marriage to actor Richard Lawson.

Education

Beyoncé first attended St. Mary’s Montessori School, Houston where her dance instructor recognized her singing and dancing talents. She later attended the music magnet Parker Elementary School, Houston and enrolled into the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. She also attended the Alief Elsik High School.

Career Rise

Beyoncé rose to fame in 1997 as a member of the girl-group ‘Destiny’s Child’ with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. The R&B group and was signed on by Columbia Records with Beyoncé as the lead singer. ‘Destiny’s Child’ went on to become the best-selling girl group in the world and contributed majorly to Beyoncé’s rise in fame. In 2002, Beyoncé made her silver screen debut with the film ‘Austin Powers in Goldmember’ and in the following year, released her debut solo album ‘Dangerously in Love’, featuring the hit Bill-board topping singles “Baby Boy” and “Crazy in Love”. The album won Five Grammy Awards. Destiny’s child broke up in 2006.

Beyonce released ‘B’Day’, her second solo album in 2006 featuring the Bill-board Top 10 singles “irreplaceable”, “Beautiful Liar” and “Déjà Vu”. She also appeared in starring roles in films like ‘Dreamgirls’, ‘The Pink Panther’ and ‘Obsessed’. Beyoncé portrayed Etta James in the 2008 musical drama biopic ‘Cadillac Records’ which influenced the creation of her third studio album ‘I Am… Sasha Fierce’, which featured the hit single “Single Ladies”. The hit album won Beyoncé six Grammy Awards. In 2011, Beyoncé released ‘4’, her fourth album and in 2013, she released ‘Beyoncé’, her fifth studio album that received critical acclaim. In 2016, she released another critically and commercially successful album ‘Lemonade’ and became the first artist ever to produce six studio albums to debut on the top position on Billboard 200 chart.

Personal Life

Beyoncé began dating singer/rapper Jay Z in 2002 and married him in April 2008 in a private ceremony. She suffered a miscarriage in 2010 and called it “the saddest thing she ever endured”. Beyoncé gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Blue Ivy Carter un January 2012. In June 2017, the couple became parents for a second time with the birth of their twin children, a daughter named Rumi and a son named Sir Carter.

The 1.69 meter tall Beyoncé considers herself “a modern-day feminist” and has voiced her support for several causes including the same sex marriage. She has also publicly condemned the brutality of the police towards black Americans and criticized President Donald Trump for withdrawing protection of transgender students in American public schools.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z own a $135 Million mansion in the exclusive Bel Air neighbourhood of Los Angeles. The 30,000-square-foot property, built over a period of four years, is designed by architect Paul McClean who has included features like an in-house spa, a fitness centre, an expansive kitchen, bullet-proof windows, Four swimming pools, 11 bathrooms and 8 bedrooms. It also has a helipad and can house 15 cars in the garage. Additionally, the couple are spending another $10 million to import Italian custom-made fixtures and furniture.

In September 2017, the couple purchased another home in East Hampton worth $26 Million which boasts of a 12,000-square-foot property spread across 17 acres of land, featuring seven-and-a-half bathrooms and seven bedrooms. The couple previously rented this property while vacationing in the Hamptons and purchased it when it was put up for sale.

Beyonce and her husband are known to have delectable tastes in everything, which also include cars.
