Diane Lou Oswald – The mother of Woody Harrelson

Diane Lou Oswald gained fame as the mother of the renowned American actor and playwright, Woody Harrelson. Though information about her early life remains limited, she was born in Lebanon, Warren, Ohio, United States. Diane’s parents were Kenneth Oswald and Mary Lou Oswald. Unfortunately, her father passed away in 1957, while her mother lived until May 2000. Diane was the eldest of three children, and she had two younger siblings.

In 1959, Diane Lou Oswald tied the knot with Charles Boyd Harrelson, who later gained notoriety as an American hitman and organized crime figure. Charles was convicted of assassinating federal judge John H. Wood Jr., marking the first assassination of a federal judge in the 20th century. Their tumultuous marriage ended in separation in 1964.

Their marriage brought three children into the world: Woodrow Tracy Harrelson, Brett Harrelson, and Jordan Harrelson. Woodrow, popularly known as Woody Harrelson, was born on July 23, 1961, in Midland, Texas, and was raised in Lebanon, Ohio, where Diane had roots.

Woody Harrelson’s successful acting career began with his notable role as bartender Woody Boyd on the NBC sitcom “Cheers” (1985–1993). He later gained recognition for his performances in various movies, including “White Men Can’t Jump,” “The Hunger Games,” “The People vs. Larry Flynt,” and “Kingpin.” Over the years, he has received several nominations and awards, including a Primetime Emmy Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and nominations for three Academy Awards and four Golden Globe Awards.

In addition to his acting pursuits, Woody Harrelson is an environmental activist and has been a vocal supporter of the legalization of marijuana and hemp. He has attended numerous environmental events, advocating for positive change in the world.

Despite her son’s fame and success, Diane Lou Oswald has maintained a low profile, and not much is known about her current activities and whereabouts. Charles Boyd Harrelson, Diane’s ex-husband, passed away on March 15, 2007, at the age of 68, succumbing to a heart attack while in prison.
