Early Life and Education

  • Zara was born on December 16, 1997 to Anders Larsson and Agnetha at Karolinska University Hospital located in Solna, in Sweden’s Stockholm County.
  • Before Larsson started her career as a singer, she attended The Royal Swedish Ballet School and was studying to be a dancer. She lived in the school during her career as a singer, till she finished her graduation.
  • Zara has also stated that she had gained admission into the Adolf Fredrik’s Music School. She however did not accept the offer as she had no desire to be a singer in a choir.

  • In 2008, at age 10, Larsson participated in the Swedish adaption of British television’s Got Talent. She was declared the winner and took home the prize of 500,000 kronor. After the win, she became very famous in her home country of Sweden.
  • Zara’s rendition of Celine Dion’s song ‘My Heart Will Go On’ was subsequently released as her debut single.
  • In 2012, Zara signed a contract with TEN Music Group and launched her debut EP album titled ‘Introducing’ in Jan 2013. The EP featured 5 songs and the single ‘Uncover’ was the most popular. It topped the music charts in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. Universal Music Sweden certified the song platinum in Feb and the album was certified triple platinum in July 2013.
  • The next EP of Larsson ‘Allow Me To Reintroduce Myself’ released in July 2013. In April 2013, Zara signed a 3-year deal with Epic Records based in the US.

  • In March 2017, the debut international album of Zara titled ‘So Good’ was launched and entered the UK Albums Chart at number 7. The album featured 8 singles each of which was released at different times, with the first single ‘Lush Life’ releasing in June 2015 and the last single ‘Symphony’ releasing on the same day as the album. Nearly all the singles in the album reached the UK’s top 15 list. The single ‘Never Forget You’ reached number 13 on the US Billboard Hot 100; it was Zara’s first entry on the US chart. The single ‘Symphony’ was the first single of Zara to reach number one on the UK Singles Chart.

  • Zara was born ‘dead’ because of reduced oxygen caused by nuchal cord.

  • She is a big fan of Beyonce. She has stated that she is a feminist and an activist. She has further stated that she has received lots of hate because of her feminist views and opinions.
