Lauren Susan Green is an American television journalist who serves in the capacity of a Chief Religion correspondent for the Fox Network’s Fox News Channel. Green has also served as a weekday headline anchor giving news updates at the top and the bottom of the hour for Fox’s most popular news and talk show ‘Fox and Friends’. Additionally, she has served as a guest panellist on ‘Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld'(now hosted by Tom Shuile) which is the network’s late-night satire show.
Green became a household name in America in 2013 after she interviewed the Iranian-American scholar and Muslim author Reza Aslan, who was on the show to promote his book about Christianity. Green asked several “prejudicial” questions, for which she received criticism from across the country. Green won the 1984 “Miss Minnesota” title and became the first African-American in the state to be crowned “Miss Minnesota”. She is also an accomplished concert pianist.

Early Life and Education
Green was born on 30 June 1958 in Minneapolis, Minnesota as the youngest child of welder and janitor Robert Green and teacher’s assistant Bessie Grissam Green. Green has four elder siblings; sisters named Barbara and Lois and brothers named Leslie and Kenneth. She was raised as a Christian. When Bill O’Reilly interviewed her a few years ago, Green claimed that singer Prince apparently had a crush on her when she was in the sixth grade and called her to say he liked her, but she apparently hung up on him.
Green developed an interest in music early in her life and although her family did not have the necessary monetary resources, they encouraged her to pursue whatever she liked. Green attended the University of Minnesota from where she completed her Bachelors Degree in Music with a specialization in piano performance. She also graduated from the Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University.
Career
Green entered the 1984 Miss Minnesota beauty pageant and became the state’s first African-American winner. Consequently, in 1985, she participated in the Miss America beauty pageant where she was declared third runner up. Green then started a career in news and television and her first job was as weekend news anchor at CBS 2’s WBBM-TV, Chicago, IL, where she also served as a correspondent. She served as a general assignment reporter at the ABC affiliate KSTP-TV, St. Paul, Minnesota from 1998 to 1993.
Green joined the Fox News Channel in 1996 and initially served as a weekday head-line anchor for ‘Fox and Friends’, giving updates at the top and the bottom of the hour. She also served as a guest panelist on ‘Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld’. Green currently serves at the Chief Religion Correspondent at FNC and has interviewed prominent musical personalities like Placido Domingo, Joshua Bell, Pierre Boulez etc. In 2013, Green did a live report from Rome on Pope Benedict XVI’s retirement as well as Pope Francis’ election.
As a musician Green released “Classic Beauty”, a classical piano music album in 2004. She was also a keyboardist for the band ‘The Little Rockers’ by Mike Huckabee on the FNC show ‘Huckabee’.

After dating New York attorney, Ted Nikolis for three years, Green married him in May 2015 at the age of 57. The couple tied the knot in a huge Big Fat Greek Orthodox Cathedral in the city. This is the first time either of them have been marries.
A life-long Christian, Green currently attends the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
