Carrie Fisher was a popular American actress, writer and producer who is best known for her character of Princess Leia in the Star Wars series. She is the daughter of the celebrity duo Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds.

She was also praised across the globe for being brave enough to speak about her bipolar disorders and drug abuse public ally. Early life and education

Carrie Fisher was born as Carrie Frances Fisher on October 21, 1956 in Beverly Hills, California to famous singer Eddie Fisher and popular American actress Debbie Reynolds. She had a Russian and Jewish ancestry from her father’s side and an English and Scottish ancestry from mother’s side.

Fisher’s childhood was not the best because their father abandoned her mother for her best friend and the couple later divorced when Fisher was just two years old. Her mother later remarried Harry Karl who was the owner of a shoe store chain and was discretely spending all of Reynold’s money.

Fisher pursued her schooling from the Beverly Hills High School till the age of 15 and later appeared as the singer and debutante in the Broadway show Irene. She couldn’t graduate her high school due to that. In the year 1973, she enrolled herself in the Central School of Speech and Drama which is located in London where she studied for 18 months. She later got accepted in the Sarah Lawrence College in the year 1978 but soon dropped out due to her filming of the Star Wars series.

Career

Fisher appeared on the big screen with the 1975 movie Shampoo alongside Warren Beatty, Julie Christie and Goldie Hawn. She later appeared in the Star War’s film in the year 1977 portraying the character of Princess Leia opposite Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill. She mentioned in a lot of interviews that she always had a lot of expectations from the Star War’s script but not many people were convinced with it.

Fisher also appeared in the TV show Ringo playing the role of Ringo Starr’s love interest in the year 1978. She also made an appearance in the film Leave Yesterday Behind alongside John Ritter. She was also praised for portraying the character of the “vengeful ex-lover” in the movie The Blues Brothers.

She published her very first novel, Postcards from the Edge in the year 1987 which described her struggles with drug abuse and also her relationship with her mother. The book was later made into a film in the year 1990 by the Columbia Pictures.

Death

Fisher breathed her last on December 23, 2016 after she had a heart attack during her flight from London. Her mother, Debbie Reynolds died just a day after her daughter passed away.
