Sarah Huckabee Sanders – Know her Better!

Sarah Elizabeth Huckabee Sanders is a reputed American politician and a member of the Republican Party. Sanders is currently serving in the capacity of the White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary, being in office since January 2017. She is set to step into her new role, succeeding Sean Spicer, after he announced his resignation from his role as the White House Press Secretary, with effect from August 21, 2017.

Sanders took interest in politics from the age of seven and grew up in a household that was very politically inclined, with her father serving as the Governor of Arkansas. Sanders officially entered politics at the age of 20, in 2002 when she served as a field coordinator for her father’s political campaigns and later went on to served in the U.S. Department of Education in the capacity of a regional liaison.

Early Life and Education

Sanders was born on 13 August, 1982 in the city of Hope, Arkansas, USA, to politician and former first lady of Arkansas, Janet Huckabee and Michael Dale Huckabee who served as the governor of Arkansas from July 1996 to January 2007. She is the youngest child of the couple and their only daughter. Sanders has two elder brothers named John Mark and David Huckabee, who serves as a morgage broker in Arkansas.

Sanders studied at Little Rock Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas and later attended Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas from where she matriculated. She was also elected as the student body president at Baptist University and was very active in participating in Republican organizations as well as other student groups. Sanders graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.

Career Rise

Sanders served in the U.S. Department of Education in the capacity of a regional liaison during President George W. Bush’s administration. Sanders also served as field co-ordinator during President Bush’s re-election campaign in 2004, Ohio. Sanders is the co-founder of Second Street Strategies, which provides general consulting services in Little Rock, Arkansas. She has a body of experience working on national political campaigns for Arkansas’ federal office. She also served in the capacity of Vice President for Tsamoutales Strategies and later as the national political director for the 2008 presidential campaign for her father. Sanders was senior advisor to 2012 Presidential nominee Tim Pawlent and involved in campaigns for John Boozman in 2010 and Tom Cotton in 2014.

Sanders, who had managed her father’s presidential campaign, signed on to serve in the capacity of senior advisor for Presidential nominee Donald Trump’s campaign in 2016 and handled his communications for coalitions. Soon after Trump became President, Sanders was appointed as Deputy White House Press Secretary and covered for White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer occasionally while he served at the Naval Reserve. Upon Sean Spicer’s announcement to resign from his role in July 2017, it was announced that Sanders who be stepping into his role.

Husband and Children

Sanders met Bryan Chatfield Sanders while working as the field director for her father’s political campaign in the year 2008 and hired him in the capacity of a media consultant. They couple soon entered into a relationship and got married in May 2010 at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cruz Bay’s St. John Island, U.S. Virgin Islands. Her husband now serves as a Republican political consultant. Together they have three children; 2 daughters and a son named George.

Sanders’ name appeared in Time Magazine’s 2010 list of ’40 under 40′ in the field of politics.
