Rebecca King Crews – Know her Better!

Rebecca King-Crews is an American singer, song-writer and a former actress and beauty pageant winner. She is also a media and television personality who is best known for her appearance on the BET network reality series ‘The Family Crews’ that documented her domestic life along with her family members, the famous actor and former NFL player Terry Crews and their children. King-Crews also served as the executive producer of the show.

During her high school years, King-Crews participated in the local Miss Gary, Indiana beauty pageant of which she was crowned winner. She began her acting and music career soon while she was in high school and appeared in local productions of several plays including ‘Pippin’, ‘The Wiz’, The Music Man’, ‘Oklahoma’, ‘Evita’ etc. She also founded ‘The Chosen Ones’, a gospel music group, but settled for a domestic life after her marriage. She made her singing debut in 2015 with the single “Can I Stay” and has since released three singles.

Early Life and Education

King-Crews was born on 24 December 24, 1965 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, United States as the daughter of her parents who raised her in the city of Gary in Indiana as a devout Christian. She is of mixed ethnicity with her father having White Ethnicity and her mother having African-American ancestry. Not much is known about King-Crew’s early family life or siblings.

King-Crews attended the Lew Wallace High School in Gary, Indiana after she completed her primary and secondary education. King-Crew later moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan to attend Western Michigan University, where she studied Musical theatre.

Career Rise

While King-Crews was in high school, she participated and won the title of Miss Gary, Indiana in 1984. She began her career as a performer regionally, during her high school and university days, appearing in several productions, musical acts and plays. Her early theatrical appearances include the musical productions of ‘Pippin’, ‘The Wiz’, The Music Man’, ‘Oklahoma’ and ‘Evita’ among others. She portrayed Deena in Black Civic theatre’s regional production of the play ‘Dreamgirls’. Furthermore, King-Crews founded her own gospel group titled ‘The Chosen Ones’ for which she sang, wrote songs and also served as producer.

King-Crews became known nationally as the wife of comedian actor and former NFL player Terry Crews. Together, with all the members of her family, King-Crews appeared on the BET network reality show ‘The Family Crews’ which documented their day-to-day life. She also serves as the executive producer of the show. The show was cancelled after airing for two seasons from February 2010 to May 2011 with a total of 17 episodes documented. Crew made her singing debut in July 2015 with the single “Can I Stay” which she says is her dedication to “The Lord”. She also made an appearance on ‘The Mo’Nique Show’ on E! As of 2017, King-Crews is working on her upcoming album titled ‘Secular, Inspirational’.

Personal Life

King-Crews has been married twice. She was first married to Charles Burton. Together, the couple are parents to one daughter, Naomi Burton born in 1989. However, the couple divorced soon.

Crew first met her eventual husband former NFL player and actor Terry Crews while the two were attending Western Michigan University but stayed friends at the time. The couple tied the knot in 1990 and became parents to three children together, daughters Azriel, Wynfrey and a son named Isaiah. Crews also gave his named to King-Crews daughter from her first marriage. She is now known legally as Naomi-Burton Crews.
