How Lawrence Jones began his career as news anchor

Jones began his career as a student advocate within the Garland Independent School District, making him the youngest employee at the time. At the age of 19, he ran for a seat on the school board but was unsuccessful in securing the position. He dedicated two years of service as a board member for Dallas County Child Welfare and was later appointed to the Garland Parks and Recreation Board in 2012. Jones gained recognition for his activism when he was named Activist of the Year by FreedomWorks in 2013.

In 2013, Jones took on an undercover role for Project Veritas, an organization focused on uncovering fraud allegations related to the healthcare marketplace of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. He played an instrumental role in exposing fraudulent activities among vendors.

One notable moment in Jones’ career came in April 2015 when he organized a fundraiser for Memories Pizza, a pizza shop in Indiana that faced controversy for expressing their refusal to cater a gay wedding. The fundraiser raised an impressive $844,000, which provided financial support to the pizza shop’s owners and was also donated to charity and their church.

In May 2018, during an appearance on Fox News, Jones made comments regarding ESPN personality Jemele Hill, suggesting that her unemployment disqualified her from receiving a journalism award from the National Association of Black Journalists. He accused the NABJ of supporting unemployment rather than recognizing deserving journalists.

In April 2019, Jones attracted attention when he wore a small bulletproof vest during a Fox News segment at the U.S.-Mexico border in Laredo, Texas. In a subsequent appearance on Fox News, Jones wore a larger vest and claimed that the U.S. Border Patrol had advised him to wear it for his safety.

In July 2019, Jones wrongly attributed a lenient plea deal that accused child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein received in 2008 to the Barack Obama Administration. He falsely claimed that Obama was president at the time, placing blame on his administration for the deal.

In October 2019, Jones made the move to New York City after being promoted to a regular substitute host and co-host position at Fox News. In 2022, he began hosting Lawrence Jones Cross Country in the time slot previously occupied by Justice with Judge Jeanine.
