Kristen was born to a white mother and black father. Her mother was a real estate agent whereas her father was an engineer. Her date of birth is July 1st 1976 in Philadelphia.
She graduated from Harvard in a Bachelor’s Degree Magna cum Laude in American History. She has also studied Spanish in Madrid on a Rotary Scholarship.

Welker has worked with ABC affiliate channels and in the year 2005 switched over to an NBC affiliate before joining NBC itself in 2010
She became the NBC’s White House Correspondent in the month of December 2011. She regularly travels with the current Presidential entourage to cover events pertaining to them.
