Jessica Barden is a British actress who is most famous for portraying the role of Alyssa in the Netflix series ‘The End of the F***ing World.’
The 5′ 2″ actress is 25 years old, but she does not look as old as she is. It is rumored that the net worth of the petite actress is an estimated $1.5 million.
Early Life and Education
Jessica was born on July 21, 1992 in Northallerton, North Yorkshire. She however grew up in Wetherby, West Yorkshire after moving there in 1995. She went to Wetherby High School.
Career
- Barden made her debut as an actress in 1999 with a minor role in an episode of TV series ‘My Parents Are Aliens.’ She then acted in some episodes of ‘The Chase’ and ‘No Angels’ TV series.
- Jessica made her movie debut in 2007 with the comedy-drama film ‘Mrs Ratcliffe’s Revolution.’ The movie was about an English family that relocates to East Germany during the period of the Cold War.
- In March 2007, she essayed the role of Kayleigh Morton on Coronation Street, a soap opera that aired on ITV. Her last appearance on the show was in September 2008.
- In 2009, Barden appeared as Pea in critically praised stage production called Jerusalem. It initially played at Sloane Square’s the Royal Court Theatre and later moved to West End’s The Apollo.
- Jessica acted in Stephen Frears directed movie Tamara Drewe in 2010. A year later, she portrayed the character of Sophie in Saoirse Ronan starrer Hanna.
- In the period from 2012 to 2015, Barden acted in ‘Lullaby’ an American independent film; she had a minor part in psychological thriller film ‘Mindscape’; she appeared in mystery movie In the Dark Half; and had a role in urban horror flick Comedown.
- In 2015, Jessica essayed the role of Liddy in the adaptation of ‘Far from the Maddening Crowd. She appeared as Kit Carmichael in a 2 part TV adaption of The Outcast, the debut novel of Sadie Jones. She also had a role in the movie ‘The Lobster’ a black absurdist comedy directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.
- In 2016, Jessica played the character Jasmine in the comedy movie Mindhorn. The same year she also appeared as the title character in TV film Ellen which aired on Channel 4.
- In 2017, Barden appeared in the horror flick ‘Habit. The same year she played the female lead in the TV series ‘The End of the F***ing World’ which garnered her worldwide recognition and fame. The series was initially made as a short film in 2014. It was later picked up by Channel 4 and released as a television series in 2017. The rights were then purchased by Netflix who released TEOTFW in 2018.
- Jessica is slated to appear as Blake in the 2018 film ‘The New Romantic.’
