How did James Daniel Sundquist’s mother and father meet?

Eva Sundquist, a Swedish woman, met Jimi Hendrix in 1968 while he was on tour with his band in Stockholm. They initially met on a local tram and began a relationship. Even after Jimi’s tour ended and he departed, he and Eva stayed in contact.

Jimi, along with his band The Experience, had traveled to Stockholm, and they quickly formed a connection. However, their relationship was short-lived as Jimi returned to the United States shortly thereafter and was unable to be with Eva.

In January 1969, Jimi returned to Stockholm and reconnected with Eva. Nine months later, in October 1969, Eva gave birth to their son, James.

What is the mystery of Jimi Hendris’s death?

The circumstances surrounding the death of James Daniel Sundquist’s father, Jimi Hendrix, are subject to dispute. On the day of his death, Hendrix was with his girlfriend at the time, Monika Dannemann, a German champion skater, who was the sole witness to his final hours. According to Dannemann, they had dinner at her apartment in the Samarkand Hotel around 11 p.m. and then she drove him to a friend’s house at approximately 1:45 a.m. He stayed there for about an hour before she picked him up and they returned to her flat at 3 a.m. They reportedly talked until around 7 a.m. before going to sleep.

In the morning of September 18, 1970, Dannemann woke up around 11 a.m. and found Hendrix breathing but unconscious and unresponsive. She called for an ambulance at 11:18 a.m., and it arrived nine minutes later. Paramedics took Hendrix to St Mary Abbot’s Hospital where Dr. John Bannister pronounced him dead at 12:45 p.m. on September 18.

Dannemann claimed that Hendrix may have taken up to 9 tablets of Vesparax sleeping pills, which she had given him because he had been struggling to sleep for several days. However, the police and Jimi’s ex-girlfriend, Kathy, who extensively studied and researched the case, disputed Dannemann’s accounts, pointing out inconsistencies.  A post-mortem examination was conducted on September 21 by forensic pathologist Professor Robert Donald Teare, following an order from Coroner Gavin Thurston. Thurston completed the inquest on September 28 and determined that Hendrix had asphyxiated on his own vomit while under the influence of barbiturates. However, due to insufficient evidence regarding the circumstances, an open verdict was declared. Dannemann later revealed that Hendrix had taken nine of her prescribed Vesparax sleeping tablets, which was 18 times the recommended dosage.

Desmond Henley, the famous embalmer, embalmed Hendrix’s body, which was then flown to Seattle on September 29. A service was held on October 1 at Dunlap Baptist Church in Seattle’s Rainier Valley, followed by his interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Renton, near his mother’s grave. The funeral was attended by over 200 people, including Mitch Mitchell, Noel Redding, Miles Davis, John Hammond, and Johnny Winter. The funeral procession involved 24 limousines.

Jimi Hendrix is often mentioned as an example of the so-called “27 Club,” a term referring to the disproportionate number of musicians who died at the age of 27, including Brian Jones, Alan Wilson, Jim Morrison, and Janis Joplin during the same era.

James Daniel Sundquist never met his father

Although Jimi Hendrix promised to return to Sweden to meet his son, he tragically passed away in 1970 before he had the chance to do so. James Daniel never had the opportunity to meet his father, but he did meet his paternal grandfather, James Allen Hendrix (also known as Al), during a visit to Seattle when he was seven years old.

The legal battle lasted for a significant period, as paternity tests were not conducted to confirm James Daniel’s biological relationship to Jimi Hendrix.

Present-day DNA methods could definitively determine paternity, but it would require the exhumation of Jimi Hendrix’s body, which is a difficult and sensitive process. James Daniel has expressed a desire for fairness and recognition, stating that he is not a fake and that he wants people to know his story.

James Daniel changed his name to Nicole and wanted to be addressed as such.
