TMZ reported on March 14, 2013 that Carter suffered seizures while filming a music video with Nicki Minaj on March 12. He was treated at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and released on March 13.

TMZ said on March 15 that Carter was transported back to Cedars-Sinai in severe condition after being found unconscious hours after his release on March 13. The subsequent seizures were connected to high levels of codeine in Carter’s system, probably from bingeing on purple drank after being released from hospital. .

In 2016, Carter suffered two seizures while flying from Wisconsin to California and landed in Omaha, Nebraska. The second seizure happened after barely two minutes in the air, requiring him to land again in Omaha. Less than a month later, he suffered another seizure from not taking his medication.

Carter canceled a Las Vegas gig on September 3, 2017, after having a seizure at a Chicago hospital earlier that day.
