Claudia Lynn Cowan is an American broadcast journalist known for her work at the Fox network’s Fox News Channel where she works as a news correspondent based in the Bay Area of California. Cowan began her career with the Fox Network in 1998 and was part of the original team of news correspondents and anchors hired by the newly established Fox News Channel. Cowan gained national recognition for her coverage of several significant news events, most of which are reported from California.
Cowan spent a considerable part of her career serving at several local news stations in her native state of California. While she began her career as a news messenger with the Fox affiliate KTTV-TV, she went on to serve at networks like KMST-TV, a CBS affiliate in Monterey, California as an anchor, editor and producer and spent eight years at the Sacramento California based CBS affiliate KOVR-TV13. She served at the NBC affiliate KRON-4 before she was offered a job at Fox.

Early Life and Education
Cowan was born on 31 July 1963 in California, United States of America as the only daughter of her parents, publicist Warren Cowan, who also co-founded the worldwide public relations company Rogers & Cowan and his wife, actress Barbara Rush. The couple divorced in 1969, when Cowan was six years old. Cowan has several half-siblings. She has one half-sibling, a brother named Christopher Hunter from her mother’s first marriage to Jeffrey Hunter and three half-siblings, actors Sara, Melissa and Jonathan Gilbert from her father’s marriage to Barbara Gilbert-Cowan.
Cowan completed her primary and secondary education and graduated high school education from a private school in California. She then enrolled into the University of California in Santa Barbara but later transferred to the University’s grounds in Los Angeles California from where she completed her graduation
Career Rise
Cowan embarked upon a career in journalism when she was hired by the Los Angeles, California based local Fox affiliate KTTV-TV in the capacity of a messenger. She was later promoted to an on-air reporter. Cowan was next hired by the CBS affiliate in Monterey, California, KMST-TV (currently KION-TV) as a desk assistant but worked her way up and became a reporter, noon news anchor and also served as a weekend evening news co-anchor, producer and editor. Cowan was offered a position at the Sacramento California based CBS affiliate KOVR-TV13 where she served as a breaking news reporter, political correspondent and morning and mid-day news anchor, serving at the network for eight years. She later worked at San Francisco’s NBC affiliate KRON-4 as an evening news reporter.
Cowan started gaining national recognition when she was hired by the Fox network in April 1998 as part of the original team of news correspondents and anchors at the newly established Fox News Channel. As an FNC correspondent, Cowan has reported on several significant news events including Golden Gate Bridge’s 75th anniversary, singer Whitney Houston’s death, The earthquake in Baja, the South Californian Wildfires etc. She also provided live coverage of the 2013 Asiana Flight 214 crash and actor Robin William’s death in 2014. Additionally, she has made appearances on several Fox shows such as ‘Fox Report’, ‘Fox and Friends’ and ‘Shepard Smith Reporting’. As of 2017, Cowan is a serving as a reporter based in the Bay Area of California.
Husband
Cowan met sports agent Steve Barker when she was serving an anchor in Monterey. Baker became her representative agent and the couple soon started dating. He later proposed marriage to Cowan and the couple have been together now for more than 25 years. Together, they are parents to twin children, a son named Ben and a daughter named Sabrina.
Barker serves as the president and co-founder of his firm ”Barker Sports Management’. The family resides together in Mill Valley, Marin County, California.
