Early life and Background
Born on 16th July 1983, in British Hong Kong, Katrina has travelled in many places before stopping in India. She has seven sisters and one brother and her father Mohammed Kaif is a businessman. Her parents divorced each other when she was very small. Since then her mother Suzanne has supported everyone in her family all by herself. Suzanne is a social worker and an English lawyer. Katrina was home-schooled because of frequent relocations due to her mother’s work.
Career
At 14 years of age, Katrina won a beauty contest in Hawaii. After this win, she got her first modeling assignment for a jewelry campaign. She was a part of London Fashion Week where a director, Kaizad Gustad noticed her and gave her a Bollywood movie- Boom (2003). In India, she got a lot of modeling offers and this eventually left her to stay there.
She walked for Rohit Bal in India Fashion Week and gained attention for the Kingfisher Calendar girl modeling. She soon received more modeling roles for brands like LG, Samsung and many more.
To earn some more success, she learnt Hindi language for getting offers from well-known directors, as Boom had failed in the box-office. She was not being taken because of her lack in Hindi speaking as well. Meanwhile she tried doing some movies in south India and soon got a rolein 2004, with Daggubati Venkatesh in Malliswari, a Telugu film. This movie was a commercial success. Though Ranbir and Katrina were all set to be married and were in a live-in relationship, the two broke up in 2016.
