Samantha Bee is a multi talented person. She is a popular Canadian – American comedian, writer, producer, television host, actress, media critic and political commentator. She earned her popularity by serving as a correspondent on the show “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”. After serving the show for 12 long years, Samantha started her own late night talk show namely “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee”. It premiered on February 8, 2016. This program telecasts on Mondays on “TBS” in United States and on “The Comedy Network” in Canada. She has also authored a book namely “I Know I Am, But What Are You?”. Early life and Background
Samantha Bee was born on October 25, 1969 in Toronto, Ontario in Canada. Her parents split up right after her birth. She was initially raised by her grandmother. Samantha spent her childhood in Roncesvalles Avenue. She attended Humberside Collegiate Institute and York Memorial Collegiate Institute. After completing her school education, she initially enrolled herself in “McGill University” and pursued humanities. But Bee was perturbed by several issues faced by the students in the University. So, after studying there for one year she shifted to the “University of Ottawa”. Later, she became a part of the George Brown Theatre School in Toronto.
Samantha Bee started her career as a member of the sketch comedy troupe “The Atomic Fireballs”. She is one of the founder members of this Toronto based group. Later in the year 2003 on July 10, Samantha joined the show “The Daily Show Jon Stewart” as a correspondent. She earned popularity among the masses for this show. Bee was the only female correspondent for this show until Kristen Joy Schaal became a part of this program on March 2008. For her outstanding contribution to “The Daily Show”, Bee was bestowed with the “Canadian Comedy Award” for the best female TV performer. She quit the show in the year 2015 to start her own late night talk show “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” which premiered on 8 February 2016.
Apart from this, Samantha Bee acted in the title role of “Sailor Moon”. She has also made guest appearances in several television shows. In the year 2004 she got the chance to act in a movie namely “Ham & Cheese” where she shared the screen space with veteran Canadian comics Scott Thomson and Dave Foley. She was also the part of the original cast of “Love, Loss, and What I Wore”.
In the year 2009, Samantha had a brief appearance in Woody Allen’s movie “Whatever Works”. She was also the part of several series like “Good God”, “ Bounty Hunters” , “Game On” , “ Test the Nation”, “Little Mosque on the Prairie”, “ Law & Order”,” Bored To Death” , “ The Electric Company” and many more.
