Early life and background
She was born on 8th December, in the year 1961, in the city of New York. Her father, John Vincent Coulter, was an FBI agent of Irish-German heritage. The name of her mother is Nell Husbands Coulter, who was a native of Peducah, Kentucky. Coulter also has two older brothers named John and James. She completed her high school education from New Canan High School in the year 1980. After that she attended Cornell University. During this time, she was an active member of the Delta Gamma national sorority. She graduated in the year 1984 with a B. A in history. Then she joined the University of Michigan Law School and there she served as an editor of the Michigan Law Review. She achieved her degree of Juris Doctor in the year 1988. She was also trained in the National Journalism Centre in Michigan. While staying in that state, she served as the president of the local chapter of the Federalist Society.
After completing her law school, Coulter worked as a law clerk for Pasco Bowman II of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, in Kansas city. She moved to work for the U.S Senate Judiciary Committee, after serving in private practice. She covered issues of immigration and crime for Senator Spencer Abraham of Michigan. Later she served as a litigator for the Centre for Individual Rights.
